Wisdom (341): It is more important not to need an excuse than to make a genuine excuse.
This wisdom reflects the depth and insight of Imam Ali (peace be upon him). The historical context relates to the time when Imam Ali (a.s) emphasized the importance of justice and fairness during his caliphate. This saying is essentially rooted in his wisdom and commitment to justice, where he advocates for the oppressed and speaks against the oppressors.
The main themes in this wisdom include justice, oppression, and human rights. Imam Ali (a.s) indicates that the day of justice for the oppressor will be harsher than the day of oppression for the oppressed, as the oppressor not only faces the consequences of their actions but also experiences fear and anxiety in their heart.
Key phrases such as "justice" and "oppression" are pivotal. The day of justice, referring to the Day of Judgment, will be a tough day for the oppressor due to their misdeeds. In contrast, the oppressed are described in a state of patience and resilience, which conveys a positive message.
The moral and spiritual lessons include the importance of always adhering to the path of justice and avoiding oppression. This wisdom teaches us that while the situation of the oppressed is challenging, the end for the oppressor is always more terrifying.
Practically, we should strive to support justice around us and raise our voices against any form of oppression. This wisdom reminds us that divine justice is never overlooked by Allah.
