Wisdom (67): Losing friends is poor patriotism.
This wisdom reflects the insight of Imam Ali (a.s.) and the values of humanity. In a historical context, it is known that during his time, social issues and poverty were prevalent. Imam Ali (a.s.) always emphasized the importance of serving humanity and helping others. This particular saying suggests that even if one has very little, one should not feel ashamed to help someone in need.
A key theme in this wisdom is that no act of kindness is too small. If you can give even a little, it is a significant act. In contrast, turning someone away empty-handed is a far worse action. This teaches us that we should always be ready to assist others, regardless of our own limited resources.
Through this wisdom, Imam Ali (a.s.) teaches us to value human relationships and never feel ashamed of helping others. It is a moral lesson that instructs us on how to fulfill our social responsibilities and become a source of positive change for others. Practically, we should strive to help others according to our means, whether it be financial or emotional support.
