Wisdom (279): It has been stated that the ornaments of the Kaaba and their abundance were mentioned in front of Umar Ibn Khattab, so some people said to him that if you take these ornaments and spend them on the army of Muslims and prepare them for their departure, it will be more rewarding. Why does the Kaaba need these ornaments? So Umar made up his mind about it and asked Amirul Momineen (peace be upon him) about it. He said that when the Holy Qur'an was revealed to the Holy Prophet, peace be upon him, there were four types of property at that time. One was the personal property of the Muslims. The second was the booty, dividing it among those who deserved it. The third wealth was khums, Allah Almighty has set special expenses for this wealth. The fourth was zakat and alms. Allah ordered them to spend there what is their consumption. These ornaments of the Kaaba were also present in this era, but Allah allowed them to remain as they were, and this was not done out of forgetfulness, nor was their existence hidden from Him. So let them stay where Allah and His Messenger have placed them. Hearing this, Umar said that if it were not for you, we would have been disgraced and left the jewels in their condition.
