Letter (78): To Abu Musa al-Ash'ari, in response to a letter from him regarding the Rulers

(This is recorded by Saeed Ibn Yahya in his Kitab al-Maghazi) How many people are there who have been deprived of many blessings of the hereafter? They became attached to the world and began to speak out of lust. I am therefore in a state of amazement and wonder where such people will gather who are suffering from narrow-mindedness and self-righteousness. I am treating his wounds, but I am afraid that he may turn into frozen blood and become incurable. You should know that there is no one who is more desirous of the unity of the Ummah of Muhammad ﷺ than I, for which I am only interested in good reward and success in the Hereafter. I will keep my promise. Even if you now turn away from the good idea that was yours until the last meeting with Majah, surely he is wretched who, despite having wisdom and experience, is deprived of its benefits. I am afraid that someone should say false things, or allow a matter to deteriorate which Allah has corrected. So don't follow what you don't know. Because evil people will fly to deliver bad things to you. Peace be upon you.
