Detailed Explanation — Wisdom (104): When you hear a hadith, judge it by the standard of intellect, don't just rely on quotations, because there are many who copy knowledge and few who meditate on it.

Wisdom (104) narrates an incident where Nuf ibn Fadalah Bakali observed Imam Ali (a.s.) one night as he rose from his sleep and gazed at the stars. The Imam then asked Nuf whether he was sleeping or awake. Upon Nuf's response that he was awake, the Imam expressed that blessed are those who adopt asceticism in this world and are entirely focused on the Hereafter. These are the individuals who consider the earth as a mat, dirt as a bed, and water as a refreshing drink.

This wisdom emphasizes the theme of asceticism and the importance of detachment from worldly possessions. Imam Ali (a.s.) praises those who prioritize their spiritual journey over material gains, highlighting that their ultimate goal is not the fleeting pleasures of this world, but rather the attainment of divine satisfaction and spiritual growth.

Furthermore, the Imam mentions the significance of holding the Quran close to one’s heart and using prayer as a shield. These phrases teach us the importance of nurturing our spiritual connections and safeguarding them. Prayer is portrayed as a means to draw closer to Allah, emphasizing its vital role in a believer's life.

The Imam also refers to Prophet David (a.s.) who would rise at this hour of the night to pray. This illustrates that this time is particularly effective for supplication. The Imam clarifies that certain individuals, such as tax collectors or those who slander others, are not worthy of making supplications during this time. This serves as an essential lesson that one must be mindful of the purity of their intentions and actions.
