In Wisdom (136), Imam Ali (a.s.) elaborates on the significance of various forms of worship and their implications. He states that prayer is a means of closeness to Allah for every pious person. Prayer, being one of the fundamental pillars of Islam, strengthens an individual spiritually and instills piety in their heart. It is an act that connects the believer with their Lord and opens the doors to His mercy.
Imam Ali (a.s.) describes Hajj as the jihad of every weak and frail individual. This signifies that Hajj is not limited to the physically strong; rather, it is a spiritual journey that holds paramount importance in every Muslim's life. Through Hajj, an individual overcomes their weaknesses and draws closer to Allah. This act fosters patience, resilience, and a sense of unity among Muslims.
Furthermore, the Imam mentions that everything has a zakat (obligation), and the zakat of the body is fasting. Fasting teaches self-control, patience, and sacrifice for the sake of Allah's pleasure. It is an act that benefits both spiritual and physical health.
Lastly, Imam Ali (a.s.) states that a woman's jihad is her good conduct with her husband. This implies that a woman's character and ethics form the foundation of her family. Good conduct means that a woman treats her husband with kindness and love, which is a form of social jihad. This wisdom highlights the deep connection between worship and moral principles, emphasizing that both are essential for a harmonious life.
