Nehjul Balagah Detailed Explanation Nehjul Balagah Detailed Explanation : 285

Detailed Explanation — Wisdom (285): O Allah, I seek refuge in you from my appearance being better in the eyes of people and what is hidden in my inner being being bad in your eyes. Meanwhile, let me take care of myself with these things to show off to people. He is aware of all of them. In this way, I should display my outward goodness in front of people and keep presenting my misdeeds in front of You, as a result of which I would gain closeness to Your servants, and keep moving away from Your pleasures.

This wisdom reflects Imam Ali's (a.s.) profound insight into human psychology and the realities of life. It discusses two types of people: those who face death quickly and those who are granted a longer life. Those who encounter death swiftly tend to value their precious moments and yearn for more time, whereas those who have been given a longer life often procrastinate.

This wisdom teaches us the importance of not wasting the valuable moments of life. One should strive to improve every moment of their existence and keep their intentions pure. It also highlights that the time of death can come unexpectedly, so we must always be prepared.

Through this wisdom, Imam Ali (a.s.) advises us to take our lives seriously and not overlook our mistakes. We should strive for the purity of our intentions and the improvement of our actions.

Practically, this wisdom encourages individuals to view each day as a new opportunity and to work towards enhancing their lives. If we waste our granted time, we risk losing out on the rewards of the hereafter.
