Nehjul Balagah Detailed Explanation Nehjul Balagah Detailed Explanation : 379

Detailed Explanation — Wisdom (379): O people! The equipment of the world is dry rotting chaff that causes pestilence. Therefore, stay away from this pasture that is more beneficial than going to the destination and taking only the amount of sustenance is more blessed than this wealth. The one who is attracted by her lust, she blinds both his eyes and the one who makes her desire her motto, she fills his heart with such sorrows that cause turmoil in the depths of the heart, so that sometimes a worry surrounds him, and sometimes a fear makes him sad. He is in such a condition that his throat starts to be strangled and he is thrown into the wilderness with both of his heart veins broken. It is easy for Allah to destroy him and it is easy for his brothers and servants to take him to the grave. As much as the need of the stomach compels and hears everything about it with the ears of malice, if it is said about someone that he has become rich, then it also comes to say that he has become poor. This is the situation, although the day has not yet come when complete despair will prevail.

In Wisdom (379), Imam Ali (a.s.) elaborates on two types of sustenance: one that people seek actively and another that seeks out people. This wisdom teaches us not to be overly anxious in our quest for sustenance. While we strive to earn our livelihood through hard work, it is essential to remember that what is destined will inevitably reach us.

This wisdom also emphasizes the importance of focusing on daily needs rather than burdening ourselves with worries for the entire year. Allah has allotted sustenance for each day, and He will provide it. This teaches us to live our lives in a way that we concentrate on the necessities of each day without being consumed by concerns for tomorrow.

Imam Ali (a.s.) reminds us that we should never be impatient in our pursuit of sustenance. What is meant for us will not be delayed. Furthermore, we should understand that no one can surpass us in obtaining our sustenance, nor can anyone overpower us in this regard. This is a spiritual reassurance that there is no deficiency in Allah's provisions.
