Wisdom (84): The value of every person is the skill, which is in that person.
This wisdom reflects the insight and foresight of Imam Ali (peace be upon him). Historically, this saying comes from a time when Imam Ali faced various battles throughout his life. In these wars, many lost their lives, while some survived. The essence of this wisdom is that those who survive wars not only save their lives but also ensure the continuation of their lineage.
A key theme in this wisdom is the importance of survival and lineage. The metaphor of the sword here signifies that despite wars and dangers, those who endure do so based on their skills and capabilities. This teaches us that, despite life's challenges, a person's value lies in their abilities and skills.
Another important point is that Imam Ali (peace be upon him) conveys that the secret of survival lies not just in physical safety but also in intellectual and practical skills. Those who enhance their skills not only secure their own lives but also safeguard their descendants.
The practical takeaway from this wisdom is that we should recognize and improve our skills. Regardless of the field we are in, refining our abilities and using them wisely is the key to success in life. This wisdom also teaches us to prioritize the importance of skills in the upbringing of our future generations.
