Wisdom (92): There is knowledge that is of little value when it remains only on the tongue, and there is knowledge that is of a high rank when it manifests through actions and limbs.
This wisdom reflects an important aspect of Imam Ali's teachings. The historical context is set in a time when the Islamic society was striving to understand the significance of knowledge and wisdom. Imam Ali emphasized the true worth of knowledge during an era when many people were content with merely verbalizing their knowledge.
The wisdom encompasses two main themes: the value of knowledge and its practical application. Imam Ali states that knowledge that remains confined to the tongue holds little significance, whereas knowledge that is translated into action is of high value. This teaches us that the purpose of knowledge is not just to acquire information but to integrate that information into our lives practically.
Key phrases like "knowledge without action" remind us that if the knowledge we acquire does not bring about change in our lives, it holds no real importance. The moral lesson here is that it is essential to put knowledge into action so that we can improve our lives.
Practically, this wisdom teaches us that we should not only express our knowledge verbally but also incorporate it into our daily lives. We should strive to implement our knowledge in a way that reflects in our character, enabling us to become better individuals.
