Wisdom (99): Let none of you say, "O Allah! I seek refuge with you from fitnah and temptation because there is no one who is not in the grip of fitnah, but whoever seeks refuge should seek refuge from the temptations that lead astray because Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala says and know that your wealth and children are a fitnah. You know. But this test is for those actions to come out that give rise to the privilege of reward and punishment, because some children want women, and are greedy for girls, and some like to increase their wealth, and some consider poverty as bad.
This saying of Imam Ali (a.s.) addresses a fundamental aspect of human existence: the inevitability of trials and tribulations (fitnah) in life. The context of this wisdom reflects the challenges faced by individuals in their daily lives, particularly in a society where material possessions and familial ties often lead to distractions from spiritual duties.
The phrase "we are Allah's" acknowledges our ultimate ownership by the Creator, reminding us that everything we possess is temporary and belongs to Him. This recognition is crucial for developing humility and detachment from worldly desires. The second part, "and to Him we return," emphasizes the transient nature of life and the importance of preparing for the afterlife.
Imam Ali (a.s.) encourages individuals to seek refuge not from the trials themselves, but from the misleading temptations that can arise from them. This highlights the importance of discernment and the need to focus on actions that lead to spiritual growth rather than succumbing to materialistic desires.
Ultimately, this wisdom serves as a reminder to prioritize one's spiritual journey over worldly attachments and to understand that true success lies in navigating the trials of life with faith and integrity. It encourages believers to remain steadfast in their worship and to seek Allah's guidance in all matters, especially when faced with life's challenges.
