Sermon (4): His Far‑Reaching Insight, Perfect Certainty in Religion, and the Reason for Prophet Musa’s Fear
Because of us you found the light of guidance in the darkness of misguidance and climbed the peaks of honour, and through us the dark nights of misguidance turned into the dawn of guidance. He laments those ears that refused the loud calls of Allah and His Messenger and therefore cannot hear his gentler voice, and he prays for tranquility for the hearts whose constant heartbeat is the fear of Allah. He explains that he always expected excuses and betrayal from the people, recognised their inner states even when the veil of religion hid them, and that he stood on the path of truth while they wandered in confusing tracks, digging wells but unable to draw water. He declares that since the truth was first shown to him he has never doubted it, and clarifies that Prophet Musa’s fear was not for his own life but from the dominance of ignorant people and the spread of misguidance. Today, he says, they stand at the crossroads of truth and falsehood, and just as one who is satiated does not feel thirst, the people fail to appreciate him while he is present among them.
