Sermon Sermon : 167

Sermon (167): When the People of Jamal Marched Towards Basra, He Said

When the people of Jamal (the Camel) marched towards Basra, he said: Surely Allah sent His Messenger as a guide, with a speaking Book and a lasting Shariah; only those perish who oppose it. Innovations resembling the truth bring destruction, save those whom Allah protects from them. Verily God's evidence and argument are your protection, so obey it without reluctance or blame. By Allah, you must obey, or Allah will take the power of Islam from you and never return it, turning sovereignty to other hands. As for those who are dissatisfied with my caliphate, they are united among themselves. As for myself, I will be patient as long as I do not fear disorder among you. If, despite the weakness of their reasons, they should succeed, the order and administration binding Muslims together will break. They are envious of him whom Allah has vested with authority over them, desiring only worldly gain, wishing to reverse all the affairs (of the Shariah) back to the time of ignorance. (But if you persevere and remain steadfast,) then your right over us will be that we manage your affairs according to God's Book and the conduct of His Messenger, upholding their rights and exalting their Sunna.
