Sermon (179): Regarding this group, he said that they were planning to join the Khawarij

Hazrat sent one of his Companions to bring news of a party of the army of Kufa which was ready to join the Kharijites, but was afraid of Hazrat. So when the enemy turned back, he inquired whether they had remained contented or had gone away showing weakness and cowardice. He said: O Commander of the Faithful! You see, when spears are pointed straight at them and swords strike their skulls, they will regret what they have done. Today Satan has scattered them, and tomorrow he will be disgusted with them and he will separate from them. Their going astray and going astray, turning away from the truth and showing their faces in error is enough for them to be (deserved punishment).
