Sermon (221): Aqeel's state of poverty and need and Ash'ath Ibn Qays' offer of bribe

By God! Saad1 I would rather spend the night awake on these thorns and be dragged in chains than to meet Allah and His Messenger in the condition that I have wronged a servant. Even if something in the world has been usurped, how can I oppress someone for the sake of this self, which will soon turn to destruction and remain under the dust for long periods of time. By God, I saw (my brother) Aqeel in a state of severe poverty and hunger, even he used to ask me for a saa of your (share) of wheat and I also saw his children whose hair was disheveled and pale from poverty and poverty as if their faces had been blackened with indigo. I thought that I would sell my religion in their hands and leave my way and follow them. But what I did was that I heated a piece of iron and then took it near their body in order to learn a lesson. So they screamed like a sick person screams in pain and agony and it was almost that their body would burn from this stigma. You have screamed from what a man has lit in jest (without the intention of burning) and you are drawing me towards the fire that God has kindled in His wrath. You should scream in agony and I will not cry out from the flames of hell. The strangest incident than this is that a person came to our house at night with a pot of halwa, which was dirty (with honey). It is as if it has been kneaded in a snake's saliva or its vomit. I said to him, is this a reward for something, is it yazka or charity, which is forbidden for us Ahl al-Bayt. So he said that it is neither this nor that but this is a gift. So I said super dead women are crying over you, so you have come to deceive me from the path of religion. Are you deluded? Either he has gone crazy or he is just selling jokes. By God! If seven climates were to be given to me along with all that is under the heavens, I would never do that if I sinned against Allah so much as to snatch a husk of barley from an ant. This world is worthless to me than the leaf that is in the mouth of the locust that it is chewing. What does Ali have to do with the blessings that perish and the pleasures that disappear. We take refuge in the feet of God from the evils of falling into ignorance of the dreams of reason and slips and seek help from Him.
