Sermon (223): اہلِ قبور کی حالتِ بے چارگی
(This world) is a house that is surrounded by calls and famous for deceptions, and its conditions never remain the same, nor can those who dwell in it remain safe and sound. Its conditions are varied and changeable. There is no reprehensible form of happiness and peace and security in it. Its inhabitants are the archery targets at which the world shoots its arrows and destroys them with death. O people of God! Know that you and the things of this world in which you are are to pass on the path of those who have passed before you, who lived longer than you, had more dwellings than you, and had more lasting signs than you. Their voices were silenced, the winds were torn apart, the bodies rotted, the houses became desolate and even the names and signs were erased. They replaced the fortified palaces and the musands with stones and piles of stones and earthen tombs, whose courtyards are founded on ruins and their buildings are fortified with mud. The places of these graves are close to each other and the dwellers in them are distant travelers in a place where they are bored and in a place where they are freed (from the affairs of this world) and are engaged (in worries of the hereafter). They don't have a connection with their homeland and despite the close proximity of their homes, they don't get along with each other like neighbors and how can they get along with each other. While decay and destruction have crushed them from their bosoms and stones and mud have eaten them up. You should also understand that (as if) they have reached where they have reached and the same sleeping place (grave) has also bound you and the same place of trust (Lahad) has also held you. What will be your condition at that time when all your stages will reach the end and you will stand up from the graves? There every person will examine the (profit and loss) of his deeds and they will be turned back to their true Lord, God, and what they used to slander will not be of any use to them.
