Sermon (50): On the Results of Mixing Truth and Falsehood

The beginning of the occurrence of trials is carnal desires that are followed, and newly invented commands in which the Qur'an is opposed, and to promote which some people become helpers of each other against the divine religion. So if falsehood were free from the admixture of truth, it would not remain hidden from the seekers, and if truth came forward pure and clean from the taint of falsehood, the tongues of those who harbour enmity would also be silenced. But what happens is that some is taken from here and some from there, and both are mixed together. At this point, Satan descends upon his friends, and only those people remain safe for whom divine success and God's favour were already present.
