Sermon Sermon : 86

Sermon (86): On the Division of the Ummah into Different Groups

Allah has not broken the neck of any rebellious one of time until He has given him respite and leisure, and He has not mended the bone of any ummah until He has put it through severity, hardship, trial, and tribulation. The calamities that are coming to you and the hardships you have already passed through are sufficient for taking lessons. Not every person with a heart is intelligent, not every person with ears is a listener, and not every person with eyes has vision. I am amazed, and why should I not be amazed, at the errors of these groups who have created differences in the proofs of their religion. They neither follow the footsteps of the Prophet nor follow the practice of the successor. They do not believe in the unseen nor avoid defects. Their practice is on doubtful and ambiguous matters, and they walk on the path of their desires. Whatever they consider good, they think it is good, and whatever they consider bad, they think it is bad. They have relied on their souls to untangle difficult knots and trust their opinion in ambiguous matters. It is as if each of them is his own imam. And what he has decided at his place with his opinion, he thinks he has obtained it from reliable and strong sources.
