Sermon (151): The State of the Negligent
He has been given respite from Allah. He falls with the negligent (into destructions) without taking the straight path and without being given any guide and leader. Early in the morning, he joins the sinners. A part of this sermon is: Finally, when Allah brings the result of their sins before them and takes them out from the veils of negligence, then they will advance toward that thing to which they were turning their backs, and will turn their backs from that thing toward which their faces were. They gained nothing beneficial even after obtaining their desired equipment and fulfilling their desires. I warn you and myself from this stage. A person should benefit from his self, for the one with eyes is he who, when he hears, reflects, and when he raises his gaze, sees the realities, and benefits from lessons, then takes the clear path, after which he remains safe from falling into pits and going astray in doubts, and does not become a loser by helping the misguided by going astray from truth and changing in speech and fearing in truth. O listeners! Come to your senses from your intoxications. Open your eyes from negligence. Reduce the running about of this world, and reflect well on the things that have reached from the tongue (blessed) of the Prophet (peace be upon him and his family), for there is no remedy from them, nor any way of escape. Whoever violates them, you should turn your faces from him and leave him to follow his self's will. Do not go near pride, and lower the head of greatness. Remember your grave, for your path is there, and as you do, so you will get. What you sow, that you will reap. What you send ahead today, that you will get tomorrow. Make some determination for the future, and keep equipment prepared for that day. O listeners! Fear, fear, and O negligent ones! Strive, strive. The one who will inform you will tell what another cannot tell. Among Allah's firm principles in the Noble Quran, on which He gives reward and punishment and becomes pleased and displeased, is this thing that no servant, whatever effort he may make, can benefit at all from going from the world to Allah's presence, while he dies without repenting from any one of these qualities: one, that he has made someone a partner to Him in obligatory worship, or has killed someone to cool his anger, or has found fault with another's deed, or has inserted innovations in religion and achieved his purpose from people, or has played a Hellish trick with people, or has spoken to people with two tongues. Understand this thing, for one example becomes proof for another. Certainly, the purpose of cattle is the stomach (filling), and the purpose of beasts is to attack others, and the purpose of women is to build and adorn this base world and raise seditions. The believers are those who are far from pride and arrogance. The believers are those who are fearful and terrified. The believers are those who are alarmed.
