Sermon (150): The Greatness and Majesty of the Lord of the Worlds

All praise is for that Allah Who indicates His existence from creation (the universe), and His ancient and eternal nature from created beings, and His being matchless from their mutual similarity. Neither can the senses touch Him, nor can veils hide Him. Since there is a difference between the maker and the made, the encompasser and the encompassed, the sustainer and the sustained. He is One, but not such that He comes in counting. He is the Creator, but not in the sense that He has to move and bear hardship. He is the Hearer, but not through any organ, and the Seer, but not in such a way that He spreads eyes. He is present, but not in such a way that He can be touched. He is separate, but not in such a way that there is distance of separation in between. He is manifest, but does not appear to the eyes. He is hidden by essence, not due to subtlety of body. He is separate from all things because He overshadows them and has authority over them, and all things are separate from Him because they are bowed before Him and are turning toward Him. Whoever attributes (attributes other than) essence to Him has limited Him, and whoever considers Him limited has brought Him into the row of countable things, and whoever considers Him countable has denied His eternity, and whoever says 'how is He' has started searching for attributes for Him, and whoever says 'where is He' has considered Him limited to a place. He was Knower even when there was no known, and He was Lord even when there was no one to be sustained, and He was Powerful even when there was no creation to come under power. A part of this sermon is: The one who was to emerge has emerged. The one who was to shine has shone, and the one who was to appear has appeared. Crooked matters became straight. Allah has changed community with community and time with time. We were waiting for this revolution like the drought-stricken wait for rain. Certainly, the Imams are Allah's appointed rulers and those who make Him known to the servants. Only the one who knows them will go to Paradise, and they will also know him, and only the one who does not know them and they do not know him will be put in Hell. Allah has chosen you for Islam and has selected you for it, and this is such that Islam is the name of safety and the capital of human honor. Allah has chosen its path for you, and has made its proofs clear from its open commands and hidden wisdoms. Neither are its wonders going to be erased, nor are its subtleties going to end. In it are the rains of blessings and the lamps of darknesses. With its keys, the doors of good deeds are opened, and with its lamps, the hem of darknesses is torn. Allah has forbidden from its prohibited places and has given permission to graze in its pastures. For the one who seeks healing, there is healing in it, and for the one who seeks independence, there is independence in it.
