Sermon (156): The Mission of the Prophet and the Oppressions of Banu Umayyah and Their End
(Allah) sent you as a messenger at a time when the chain of messengers had stopped, and the communities had been sleeping for a long time, and the (religion's) strong rope had become untwisted. So you came to them with a book that confirms the previous books and such a light that is followed, and that is the Quran. I inform you from it that in it are the information of the future, past events, the remedy for your diseases, and the binding of your mutual relations. A part of this sermon is: At that time, no solid house and no woolen tent will remain such that the oppressor does not enter grief and sorrow into it, and does not reach hardships into it. That day will be such that in the sky, you will have no intercessor, and on the earth, you will have no helper. You chose the unworthy for the matter (of caliphate) and brought them down from a place that was not the place of its descent. Soon Allah will take revenge from the oppressors. Eating in exchange for eating, and drinking in exchange for drinking, such that they will be given colocynth to eat and aloe and poisonous hellebore to drink, and their inner garment will be fear, and their outer clothing will be the sword. They are the mounts of sins and the burden-carrying camels of errors. I say with oath upon oath that after me, Banu Umayyah will have to spit out this caliphate as phlegm is spat. Then as long as the cycle of day and night continues, they will not taste its flavor, nor will they be able to enjoy its taste.
