Sermon (159): The Greatness of the Religion of Islam and the Teaching of Taking Lessons from the World

All praise is for that Allah Who made praise the opening of His remembrance, the means of increasing His grace and favor, and the proof of the path of His blessings and greatnesses. O servants of Allah! The same treatment of time will remain with the remaining people that was with the one who has passed. As much time as has passed will not return, and whatever is in it is also not going to remain forever. In the end, its calamities want to exceed each other, and its banners are behind each other. It is as if you are attached to the hem of the Resurrection, that it is pushing you and taking you in such a way as a caller takes his camels. Whoever gets involved in other things instead of reforming his self, he remains wandering in darknesses and stuck in destructions, and the devils pull him into rebellions, and decorate his evil deeds before him. The final destination of those who advance is Paradise, and the limit of those who intentionally make shortcomings is Hell. O servants of Allah! Remember that God-consciousness is a strong fortress, and transgression and immorality are a (weak) four-walled enclosure that neither can prevent destructions from its inhabitant nor can protect them. Look, God-consciousness is that thing with which the sting of sins is cut, and from certainty, the victories of the ultimate goal are obtained. O servants of Allah! Fear Allah regarding your self, which is more beloved and dear to you than all selves. He has opened the path of truth for you and has illuminated its paths. Now either there will be indelible misfortune or eternal happiness and felicity. Prepare provisions from the perishable abode for the eternal world. You have been informed of the provision for the journey, and the command to depart has been received, and haste is being created for moving. You are like mounted riders who do not know when the command to depart will be given. What will the one who was created for the Hereafter do with the world, and what will he do with that wealth which is going to be taken from him soon, and whose oppression and account will remain on him? O servants of Allah! The good that Allah has promised cannot be abandoned, and the evil from which He has forbidden cannot be desired. O servants of Allah! Fear that day in which there will be examination of deeds and abundance of earthquakes, and even children will become old in it. O servants of Allah! Be certain that your own conscience is your guardian, and your own limbs and organs are your watchers, and (the noble scribes) are those who remember the count of your deeds and breaths correctly. Neither the darknesses of dark night can hide from them, nor can closed doors keep you hidden. Certainly, the coming tomorrow is 'closer than today.' 'Today' will go taking all its things, and 'tomorrow' wants to come following it. It is as if every person among you has reached that part of the earth where there is the destination of solitude and the mark of the pit (grave). What can be said about the state of this house of solitude, the destination of wilderness, and the solitude of travel (the horrors of solitude)? It is as if the sound of the trumpet has reached you, and the Resurrection has descended upon you, and you have come out (from graves) to hear the final judgment. The veils of falsehood have been removed from your eyes, and your excuses have been suppressed, and realities have been established for you, and all things have turned toward their places. Take advice and counsel from lessons, and take lesson from the reversals of time, and benefit from the warning things.
