Sermon (6): When He Was Advised Not to Pursue Talha and Zubair
When he was advised not to pursue Talha and Zubair or resolve on fighting them, he swore that he would not be like the badger that pretends to sleep while being constantly struck until the hunter reaches it and the one lying in ambush seizes it. Rather, he would advance with those who hasten towards the truth and respond to the call of obedience, wielding his sword against those who fall into doubt and error until his day of death arrives. By Allah, he adds, from the time Allah took His Messenger, others have continually been put ahead of him and he has been deprived of his rightful due.
