Sermon (73): When He Learned That Banu Umayyah Accused Him of Participating in Uthman's Killing

All knowledge about me did not prevent Banu Umayyah from fabricating lies against me. Nor did my precedence in faith and long-standing Islamic services prevent these ignorant ones from making accusations. And what Allah has warned them about (regarding falsehood and fabrication) is far more eloquent than my statement. I am the one who will bring proof against these (irreligious) people, and all doubtful matters should be presented to the Quran, and servants will receive fruit according to their intention.
