Sermon (96): On the Oppressions of Banu Umayyah

By Allah! They will always continue (to commit oppression) in this way, and there will be no thing that Allah has forbidden that they will not consider lawful, and there will not be a single covenant or pact that they will not break. Until no house of brick and stone and no tent of wool will remain safe from their oppression, and people's staying in their homes will become difficult due to their bad way of governance, and until two types of weepers will stand up: one weeping for religion, and one weeping for the world. And until seeking justice from any one of them by any one of you will be like a slave seeking from his master, who obeys in front but does evil behind (and vents his heart's frustration). And until the situation reaches the point that whoever among you has more faith in Allah will be that much more in hardship and difficulty. In this situation, if Allah keeps you in safety and well-being, then (gratefully) accept it. And if you are put in trial and testing, then be patient, for the good end is for the God-conscious.
