Letter (76): Will in the name of Abdullah Ibn Abbas while appointing him as his deputy in Basra

Be kind to people. Dissuade people in your assembly. Do not be strict in your orders. Avoid anger. Because for Satan, the omen is good. And know that what brings you closer to Allah, it takes you away from Hellfire, and what takes you away from God, brings you closer to Hellfire.
