Sermon Sermon : 148

Sermon (148): The Occultation of the Proof (peace be upon him)

(Those people) have taken to the paths of misguidance and left the paths of guidance, and have taken to the (right and left) paths of excess and deficiency. Do not be hasty for that thing which is going to happen and is in the place of waiting, and do not show displeasure at the distance of that which 'tomorrow' is bringing with itself. Many people are those who are hasty for something, and when they get it, they start wishing that they had not gotten it. How close is 'today' to the lights of the coming 'tomorrow.' O my people, this is the time of the coming of the promised things and these seditions becoming prominent and near, of which you are not yet aware. Look! Whoever from us (Ahl al-Bayt) will find (the era of these seditions) will advance in it with (the lamp of) guidance and will take steps on the path and method of the righteous, so that he may untie the tied knots and free the servants, and break the joined as needed and join the broken. He will be hidden from people's (sight). Those searching will not be able to see his footprints despite constantly fixing their gaze. At that time, a nation will be sharpened (on the whetstone of truth) as a blacksmith sharpens a sword's edge. The Quran will create brightness in their eyes, and its meanings will keep entering their ears, and overflowing cups of wisdom will be given to them morning and evening. A part of this sermon is: Their (misguidances') time kept increasing so that they may complete their disgraces and create entitlement for hardships. Until when that term came near to ending, and a (sedition-causing) group advanced taking support of seditions and stood for sowing the seeds of war, then at that time, the believers were not counting their patience and forbearance as a favor on Allah, nor were they considering giving their lives in the path of truth as a great achievement. Until when the time of the decree of calamity ended, they took up swords with insight and began obeying their Lord's commands by the command of their guide. And when Allah took the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him and his family) from the world, a group turned back on their heels, and the paths of misguidance destroyed them, and they relied on their wrong beliefs, and began treating strangers well (leaving the close ones), and left those (means of) guidance from which they were commanded to show love, and removed (caliphate) from its strong foundations and installed it where it was not its place. This is the storehouse of sins and the door of those who sink in misguidance. They were wandering in bewilderment and distress, and were intoxicated with the wine of misguidance like the family of Pharaoh. Some were cut off from the Hereafter and turned toward the world, and some had turned away from truth and abandoned religion.
