Sermon (63): Mention of attributes
All praise is due to Allah, Whose attribute is not preceded by another attribute, that He was manifest before the end and before the inner being. Whoever is called one besides Allah, he will be in poverty. Apart from him, every respectable, lowly, and every powerful, weak and humble, and every possessor, and every knower is in the position of a learner. And sometimes humble and besides, every hearer is unable to hear soft sounds and loud sounds deafen him (by their echo) and distant sounds do not reach him, and except him every seer is blind to the sight of hidden colors and subtle bodies. No outward appearance can be internal without Him, and no internal can be other than His manifestations. He did not create any of His creations to strengthen the foundations of His authority, or to be in danger from the consequences of the times, or to receive help from an equal assailant, or a partner who brings down abundance, or an opponent who collides with the height, rather, all these creatures are in His possession and all are His humble and helpless servants. He is not embedded in other things so as to be said to be within them, nor is he so distant from them as to be said to be apart from them. Invention and invention of the scholar did not make him dull and helpless. And he has not been overcome by the inability to create (according to origin) things, nor has he been doubted in his judgments and estimations. Rather, his decisions are strong, his knowledge is firm and his commands are definite. He is there even in times of trouble. And even at the time of blessing, he is afraid of it.
