So Imam Ali (peace be upon him) said regarding him: Did he not pledge allegiance to me after Uthman was killed? I do not need his allegiance now. This is a Jewish-like hand. If he pledges allegiance with his hand, he will break it in a humiliating way. You should know that he too will rule for as long as it takes a dog to lick its nose, and his four sons will also be rulers. And the ummah will see days of hardship at the hands of him and his sons.
