Sermon (83): On Glorification and Advice
I bear witness that there is no god but Allah, Who is One and has no partner. He is the First such that nothing is before Him. He is the Last such that there is no end to Him. Imagination and conjecture cannot be aware of any of His attributes, hearts cannot establish belief in any of His qualities, He has no parts that can be analyzed, and neither heart nor eye can encompass Him. Part of this sermon is: O servants of Allah! Take advice and admonition from beneficial lessons, take lessons from clear proofs, take effect from effective warnings, and benefit from sermons and thoughts. For it should be understood that the claws of death have dug into you, and all the bonds of your hopes and desires have suddenly broken. Hardships have fallen upon you, and you are being dragged to the spring of death where one descends. With every soul there is a driver and a witness. The driver will drive it to the field of resurrection, and the witness will testify about its deeds. This part of the sermon is about Paradise: In it are degrees one above another and stations of different standards. Its blessings will not be cut off, those who dwell in it forever will not grow old, and those who live in it will not face poverty and need.
