Sermon Sermon : 92

Sermon (92): On Praising Allah

Blessed is that God to Whose Essence high-flying ambitions cannot reach, nor can the powers of intellect and understanding reach Him. He is such a First that there is no point of beginning for Him that He would be limited, nor is there any end for Him that (reaching there) He would be finished. In the continuation of this sermon, he said: He placed them (the prophets) in the best places of being entrusted, and settled them in the best abodes. They were transferred from noble loins to pure wombs. When one of them who was to pass away passed away, another stood up with the religion of Allah. Until this divine honor reached Muhammad, who was created from such mines that were the best in terms of flourishing, and from such roots that were very dignified in terms of growth, from that tree from which many prophets were created and from which He selected His trustees. His honor is the best honor, his tribe is the best tribe, and his tree is the best tree. Which grew on the sacred land and grew in the shade of nobility. Whose branches are long and whose fruits are beyond reach. They are the imams of the God-conscious, and (the spring of) insight for those who seek guidance. They are such a lamp whose light gives light, and such a bright star whose light is radiant, and such a flint whose spark is flame-like. Their conduct is to walk on the straight path (avoiding excess and deficiency) and to follow the Sunnah of guidance. Their speech is decisive between truth and falsehood, and their command is exactly justice. Allah sent them at a time when the chain of messengers had stopped, evil deeds had spread, and negligence had covered the nations. May Allah have mercy on you. Act firmly on the clear signs. The path is completely straight. It calls you to the house of safety (Paradise), and you are now in such a house where you have enough leisure to gain its satisfactions. The opportunity is now, for the books of deeds are open, the pens are moving, the bodies are healthy and strong, the tongue is free, so it can be heard and deeds can be accepted.
