As soon as you receive my letter, persuade Mu'awiya to make a two-sided decision and bind him to a final and definite opinion and force him to adopt one of the things: a war that displaces him from his home or a humiliating peace; if he chooses war, then end all relations and discussions. And if he wants peace, take allegiance from him, peace be upon him
