Sermon Sermon : 131

Sermon (131): On the Greatness of Allah and the Importance of the Quran

The world and the Hereafter have entrusted their reins to Allah and are under His command, and the sky and earth have placed their keys before Him, and fresh and verdant trees are prostrate before Him morning and evening, and kindle shining fire (flames) from their branches, and present ripe fruits (branches) by His command (after bearing fruit and flowering). A part of this sermon is: Allah's book is such a speaker before you that its tongue never falters, and it is such a house whose pillars do not bow, and such an honor whose supporters do not suffer defeat. In the continuation of this sermon, he said: Allah sent him at a time when the chain of sending messengers had stopped, and people had as many tongues as there were opinions. So He sent him as the last of all messengers, and ended the chain of revelation through him. He fought in Allah's path those people who had turned their backs on it and were making others equal to it. A part of this sermon is: The end of the sight of the (heart's) blind is only this world, that nothing appears to him except it, and the gazes of the one who has sight pass beyond it, and he is certain that there is also a house after it. The one with sight wants to come out from it, and the blind keeps his eyes fixed on it. The insightful gains provisions from it (for the Hereafter), and the uninsightful remains engaged in its equipment. A part of this sermon is: You should know that a person sometimes becomes satiated and bored with everything except life. He never feels comfort in dying, and this is like that wisdom that is life for the dead heart, sight for blind eyes, hearing for deaf ears, and satiation for the thirsty, and in it is complete equipment of sufficiency and equipment of protection. This is Allah's book, through which you are shown, and speech comes to your tongue, and (the voice of truth) you hear. Some of its parts explain other parts, and some bear witness to the truth of others. It does not present different views about the Divine Essence, nor does it turn its companion from its path to another path. (But) you have united on heart grudges and the desire for vegetation grown on graves. On the desire for hopes, you have reconciliation among yourselves, and on earning wealth, you keep enmity with each other. The evil one (Satan) has misled you, and deceivers have led you astray. Against me and your selves, Allah alone is the Helper.
