Sermon Sermon : 132

Sermon (132): When Umar ibn al-Khattab Asked for Advice from Ali (peace be upon him) Regarding Participation in the Campaign Against Rome, He Said

Allah has taken the responsibility of strengthening the boundaries of the people of religion and protecting their unprotected places from the enemy's sight. He is that God (who is still) alive and immortal, Who supported and helped them at that time when they were so few that they could not take revenge from the enemy, and protected them when they were so few that they could not protect themselves. If you yourself advance toward these enemies and clash with them and fall into some calamity, then in that case, there will be no place for the Muslims' distant faces to return to, nor will there be any such place to return to after you that they can turn to. Send an experienced person to them instead of yourself, and send with him people of good performance and goodwill. If Allah gives victory, that is what you want. If the other situation occurs and there is defeat, you will be a helper for the people and a place of return for the Muslims.
