Sermon Sermon : 142

Sermon (142): The Ahl al-Bayt Are the Firmly Grounded in Knowledge and They Are the Deserving of Imamate and Caliphate

Allah the Exalted sent His messengers with the distinctions of revelation and made them His proof over creation, so that they could not make the excuse that proof was not complete upon them. So Allah gave them the call to the path of truth with truthful tongues. (Although) Allah knows creation well, and is not unaware of people's secrets and mysteries that they keep hidden. (Then these commands and laws are given) so that He may test and manifest which of them is good according to deeds, so that reward may be their recompense and punishment may be the retribution for their (evil deeds). Where are those people who, while lying and oppressing us, claim that they are the firmly grounded in knowledge, not us? Since Allah has elevated us and lowered them, and given us the position of imamate and deprived them. Guidance can only be sought from us and the darknesses of misguidance can only be cleared from us. Certainly, the Imam will be from Quraysh, who will emerge from the cultivation field of a branch of this tribe, Banu Hashim. Neither does imamate suit anyone else, nor can anyone other than them be deserving of it. A part of this sermon is: These people have adopted the world and left the Hereafter behind. They have left clean water and started drinking dirty water. It is as if I see their transgressor that he remained in evils so much that he came to love those evils and became familiar with them and kept agreeing with them, until (in those evils) his head's hair turned white, and his nature was dyed in that color. Then he advanced like a turbulent river, foaming (from the mouth), without considering whom he is drowning, and spread like fire in hay, without caring what things he is burning. Where are the intellects that are illuminated by the lamps of guidance, and where are the eyes that look toward the bright minaret of God-consciousness, and where are the hearts that have become Allah's, and the hearts that have become firm on His obedience? They have fallen upon the wealth of the world and are quarreling over (wealth that is) forbidden. Before them are the banners of Paradise and Hell raised, but they have turned their faces away from Paradise and have advanced toward Hell due to their deeds. Allah called these people, but they flared up and turned their backs and left, and Satan invited them, so they said 'Here I am' and rushed toward him.
