Sermon (35): On the Arbitration (Tahkim)
After the arbitration (tahkim), he said: Praise be to Allah in every state. Although time has brought us painful trials and patience-testing events. I bear witness that there is no god but He—He is One, without partner. There is no other god with Him, and Muhammad (ﷺ) is His servant and Messenger. (You should know that) the fruit of opposing a kind, informed, and experienced advisor is regret and shame. I had made my command heard regarding this arbitration, and had placed the essence of my valuable opinion before you. If only the command of Qasir had been accepted. But you insisted on rejection like harsh opponents and covenant-breaking disobedient ones, until the advisor himself began to think about his own advice, and the nature became like a flint that has stopped kindling flames. My and your condition is according to the saying of the poet of Banu Hawazan: I informed you of my command at the place of Man'araj al-Lawi (the turn of the hill) (although at that time you did not act on my advice), but at the dawn of the next day you saw the truth of my advice.
