Letter (44): Names of Ziyad Ibn Abiyya
When Hazrat came to know that Muawiyah wrote a letter to Ziyad and wanted to avoid him by joining his family, he wrote to Ziyad.
I have come to know that Muawiya has written a letter to you and wanted to slip your intellect, so beware of him, because he is Satan who comes from behind the believer and from the right and left side to make him unaware and break his mind. The lineage is neither proven nor the right to be inherited, so the person who relies on this is like an uninvited person who comes to a drinking party is pushed out.
(Sayyid Razi says that when Ziyad read this letter, he said, "By the Lord of the Ka'ba, he testified to this. So this matter remained in his heart until Mu'awiyah claimed to be his brother.) The word "al-Waghl" mentioned by Amir al-Mu'minin, peace be upon him, refers to the person who comes uninvited to the gathering of drunkards in order to drink with them, even though he is among them. Because of which such a person is always scolded and stopped and a wooden bowl or a jam or similar container is called that which is tied to the passenger's luggage and when the rider jolts and honks fast, he keeps eating from here and there.
