Sermon (146): Regarding Talhah and Zubayr
Each of these two (Talhah and Zubayr) is a candidate for caliphate for himself and wants to turn it toward himself, not toward his companion. They do not seek any means to Allah, nor do they want to advance toward Him with any path. They both have (enmity in their hearts) toward each other, and will soon be exposed in this matter. By Allah, if they succeed in their intentions, one of them will kill the other and will only rest after finishing him. (Look) the rebellious group has risen. (Now) where are those who seek reward and recompense when the paths of truth have been determined, and this news has been given to them before? Every misguidance has excuses, and every covenant-breaker makes some statement to confuse (others). By Allah! I will not be like the person who listens to the voice of mourning, hears the voice of the one announcing death, and also goes to the one who is weeping, and then does not take a lesson.
